Weekly Track Roundup #1
So much great stuff has released this week, couldn't really listen to it all so what you see here is a mix of new and old. First off, the new Geordie Greep is absolutely fantastic. I mean, I forgot I wasn't listening to a black midi album. Intense, with some of his best writing to date. So captivating and feverish almost. I loved it but I definitely do need to give it more time.(Perhaps you can infer from my little topster here that I also went back to listen to some black midi, forgot how darn good they were!)
Alaskan Tapes has been one of my favourite new ambient artists for a while. He creates serene, soothing, detailed soundscapes which are a pleasure to listen to. Whether actively or passively. This was one of his newer records that I had put off listening to, it did not disappoint.
This new MissinCat album frankly did not do it for me, I lost interest after the first three or four tracks even after multiple tries. Great opening track, nothing much else to say. The Foxing record however, is one of the best albums of the year, a very unique sound and a whirlwind of hard-to-pin-down emotions. I will maybe make a separate post about it.
The new GY!BE album I am actually yet to finish, so I'm going to go ahead and refrain from commenting on it. But it is pretty powerful so far. The Beirut record I have so much to say about and I will definitely be making a post about them soon, once I get the time. I'm so busy with Uni it's hard to make time for this blog but I aim to stick with it!
Am I the only one who cannot stand Car Seat Headrest? His music makes me want to curl up in a ball of cringe. But I am irrevocably enamored by the outro to Sober to Death, painfully beautiful. For me, the only worthwhile thing in the album.
I made a post about the Skinshape album here! TL;DR, it's a nice album to kick back to.
